About Eddie Hunt – Founder of Bristol SalsaFix
Eddie is an accomplished salsa instructor and DJ, as well as the founder of Bristol SalsaFix.
His dance journey began in 2003, when he was instantly captivated by the energy and artistry of salsa—and he’s been devoted to the craft ever since.
Driven by dedication and a love for the dance, Eddie immersed himself in studying the techniques and foundations of Cross Body Salsa and specifically the New York Style (Mambo). He further honed his skills by attending classes and salsa congresses throughout the UK and abroad, always seeking new challenges and refining his repertoire of advanced movements.
Passion & Energy
Eddie’s commitment to understanding the deeper elements of salsa—musicality, technique, and foundational principles—led him to begin teaching in 2011, with classes in Clevedon and Bristol.
His lessons quickly gained recognition across the South West for their welcoming atmosphere, infectious energy, and emphasis on both enjoyment and personal progress.
Building on this success, Eddie began hosting his own salsa events and expanding his profile as a guest instructor and DJ throughout the UK and later internationally. Whether teaching or performing, he brings an unmistakable passion to every dance floor.
Known for his supportive and tailored teaching style, Eddie offers insightful feedback to help each dancer develop at their own pace. He believes in respecting the diversity of salsa approaches and often shares this philosophy with his students:
Steph - Teacher
Steph has danced her whole life, training primarily in more classical styles before discovering salsa in 2012.
After moving to Bristol, she was looking for a way to combine her love of dance with meeting new people — and from her very first class, she was hooked. The rhythm, the music, and the warmth of the community completely captured her heart.
Since then, Steph has danced her way through lessons with a variety of teachers and attended congresses across the UK and abroad, always eager to keep learning and growing. It was when she joined Eddie’s classes that her dancing truly flourished, as she focused on technique, musicality, and building a strong foundation in salsa.
For Steph, the true magic of salsa isn’t just in the steps or routines — it’s in the connections made on the dance floor and the shared joy that brings people together.
You’ll often find Steph at our Monday SalsaFix classes or out dancing at events in Clevedon and Bristol, always smiling and ready for the next song.
Michele - Teacher
Michele began her salsa journey around 2012, quite by accident. After a dance fitness class ended, someone suggested she try salsa — and from that very first class, there was no turning back.
What started as a casual suggestion quickly became a passion. Through salsa, Michele has found incredible social opportunities, made lifelong friends, and travelled to dance congresses all over the UK.
Today, Michele shares her enthusiasm for salsa by assisting Eddie Hunt with his classes at Southbank, Bristol on Mondays and in Clevedon on Tuesdays. She also occasionally stands in to assist on Thursdays at Stoke Bishop. From her early days as a complete beginner to her current role supporting others on their dance journeys, Michele continues to find joy, connection, and inspiration through salsa.
Serena - teacher
Serena has loved dance since childhood, spending years immersed in ballet, contemporary, and tap. In 2023, she discovered Eddie’s salsa classes in Clevedon, and she hasn’t looked back since!
Salsa brings her joy, a sense of community, and a space to challenge herself.
She enjoys attending classes to refine her technique and learn more, and whenever possible, she heads to salsa socials to meet new people and keep developing her skills. More recently, Serena has started exploring Salsa On2, which has opened up a whole new musical dimension that she’s loving.
These days, you’ll often find her assisting Eddie in Clevedon, helping beginners take their first steps on their salsa journey, a role she finds incredibly rewarding.
“There is more than one way to dance salsa. I will always explain why we do a move a certain way, but we will not say this is the only way.”
Bristol SalsaFix was born from Eddie’s enduring enthusiasm for salsa and Cha Cha—a project rooted in passion,
designed to inspire and elevate dancers at every stage of their journey..
